Today I want to discuss something very simple and very complex at the same time. Explain in detail what this means to you and how you would explain it to others.

There's an Aesop Fable that revolves around a stray dog that just escaped from a meat booth with a deer leg. He's very happy with his meal, and is heading to his favorite hiding spot to eat in peace. He finds himself along a river that he's never seen before, and sees another dog in the water with a slab just as handsome as his own. He decides he wants both shares, and growls at the dog, who growls back. He takes this as a challenge and lunges into the river, which causes him to lose that he had to the current and also realize that the second dog wasn't real all at once. I believe the moral was listed as something to the tune of "When you grasp at shadows, you lose the substance", but this also strikes me as a cautionary tale of trying to control more than the universe allows you to. If that dog had stopped and said "Can I even fit that in my mouth right now?" he probably would have realized that he couldn't and moved on. Perhaps what I mean is that the moral, to me, would be more aptly worded as "When you grasp at things out of your reach, you might drop what you are holding."
